Have you ever been faced with a personnel issue and needed advice on handling it? Have you wanted to run your ideas by someone that is removed from the situation? Does your agency not have an HR person or are you not comfortable asking them? Do you wish there was a place you could go where others have had similar situations and you can see what they did? Well, that’s where the Ask fireHR Blog will come to the rescue.
I’ve created quite the list of frequently asked questions through emails and several years of teaching Human Resources topics to Fire Officers and other students. While each situation is unique, many times the foundational issue is similar. Send me your questions and I’ll do my best to answer them here. I’ll also post FAQs I have received through the years and other HR-related stories from around the country. Of course, identifying information will be removed from your questions, so please be candid and don’t worry about someone seeing your name or agency. Send me an email at greg@firehr.com or ask through our Twitter page @_fireHR. You can also use the hashtag #askFireHR. I look forward to hearing from you!
Legal Stuff – I’m not an attorney, just a Human Resources Professional with a background in the fire service. Responses in this blog, or otherwise provided by fireHR, are not legal advice and you should direct specific legal questions to an employment attorney or an attorney with whom you or your agency has a working relationship.
